Types of ACLS Algorithms
ACLS which stands for advanced cardiac life support or advanced cardiovascular life support refers to a set of clinical algorithms for the urgent treatment of cardiac arrest, stroke, myocardial infarction, as well as other life-threatening cardiovascular emergencies. types of acls algorithms
The current ACLS (2015) guidelines are classified into several groups of algorithms. In mathematics, an algorithm refers to an explicitly defined specification of how to solve a set of problems. In ACLS, an algorithm is a set of instructions that are followed to standardize treatment, and increase its effectiveness. These algorithms usually come in the form of a flowchart, incorporating “yes” or “no” type decisions, making the algorithm easier to memorize.
